Belavia cleared to service third-party fleets

The Belarusian flag carrier Belavia in January 2015 was cleared to provide MRO services on European carriers’ aircraft, becoming the country’s first organization to obtain an EASA Part 145 certificate, the airline reports.
Belavia will offer MRO services on Boeing 737-300/-500s narrowbodies and Bombardier CRJ100/200s regional jets, Show Observer has learnt. The airline is cleared to eliminate defects and replace aircraft components, as well as performing maintenance on certain types of batteries and electrical components installed on these aircraft types. “From now on, European carriers will be able to use the Belavia maintenance center for rectifying defects found during routine inspections in Belarus,” says the carrier’s general director Anatoly Gusarov.
Belavia was founded in Minsk in March 1996, using the facilities and fleet of the Belarusian Civil Aviation Association. The airline currently operates six Boeing 737-500s, nine Boeing 737-300s, four CRJ100/200LRs, two Embraer E195s, two Embraer E175s, and three Tupolev Tu-154Ms. In late January, the carrier took delivery of its first leased Boeing 737-800. It plans to get one more aircraft of the type this spring and three more such airframes in 2016.
