Russia’s first Part 21G certificate to be issued soon
The Russian aircraft interior specialist Vemina Aviaprestige, which is exhibiting at JetExpo 2014, expects to begin offering cabin components for foreign-made business aircraft shortly. The company is in the process of obtaining a relevant EASA Part 21G certificate. Vemina representatives told Show Observer that the certification will be completed in 2014, enabling the company to manufacture interior components certified to EASA Form 1.
Vemina says no other Russian business is currently cleared to manufacture such components. There already is some interest from potential customers but no contracts have been signed so far.
Vemina Aviaprestige specializes in the development, production, installation and maintenance of aircraft cabin interiors. The company operates under an EASA Part 145 certificate, which only enables it to service and repair third-party interiors on foreign-made aircraft. Up to now the company has been enjoying relatively small numbers of bizav contracts, all of them to do with minor repairs.
The company’s larger projects involve maintaining and repairing interiors of Aeroflot’s Boeing passenger airliners, as well as developing clean-sheet VIP interiors for the Tupolev Tu-204, Tu-214 and Ilyushin Il-96 aircraft operated by the air carrier Rossiya, which carries Russian government officials.
