VSMPO-Avisma ramping up output

Russian metals specialist VSMPO-Avisma, a historical participant in MAKS exhibitions, is building on its reputation as a key international supplier of aviation titanium. The company is planning to sell around 32,000 t. of titanium products this year for nearly $1.5 billion.
Last year, VSMPO met around 34% of global demand for aerospace titanium, supplying Russian and international customers with billets, plates, sheets, forgings of major landing gear and fuselage components; aero engine disks, blades and rings, etc. VSMPO sold 29,300 t of titanium products in 2012: 17,000 t for export and 12,300 t domestically, for a total sum of $1.3 billion; 65% of all shipments were to aerospace customers.
VSMPO-Avisma covers virtually all existing demand for aerospace titanium in Russia. It works with the United Aircraft Corporation and the United Engine Corporation on civilian and military aviation projects.
In recent years, orders from aviation manufacturers have accounted for 65-70% of VSMPO’s backlog. Most of these are long-term agreements for between five and 12 years. At the Farnborough air show in 2012, VSMPO signed a number of new contracts worth $1.4 billion in total. In particular, an agreement was signed with Perm Motors for the supply of titanium alloys in 2013-15. A five-year agreement with Sukhoi was also signed.
