18.05.2012The Russian helicopter fleet stood at 2,266 units in the first quarter of 2012; fewer than 50% of them (1,063) were in commercial operation, according to an analytical report prepared by the GosNII GA State Research Institute of Civil Aviation at the request of Show Observer.
17.05.2012Russian Helicopters is presenting at HeliRussia 2012 the latest iteration of the Mil Mi-8/17 helicopter family, the modernized Mi-171A2. Also here at the exhibition, Ulyanovsk Instrument Manufacturing Design Bureau (UIMDB, part of Aircraft Engineering Concern) is demonstrating the KBO-17 avionics package for the new helicopter.

17.05.2012During the first day of HeliRussia 2012, Russian Helicopters is presenting the Kamov Ka-62 twin-turbine medium utility helicopter.
New powerplant for the Mi-26T2
17.05.2012The Ukrainian engine maker Ivchenko-Progress is showcasing the D-136-2 turboshaft engine at HeluRussia 2012. The powerplant is designed to power the upgraded Mil Mi-26T2 heavy-lift helicopter, which is currently undergoing flight tests with standard D-136 engines.

17.05.2012Although some 70% of the entire Russian Helicopters output is represented by Mil Mi-8/17 medium-class helicopters, the company is actively working to develop lighter types. One of these is the Ansat helicopter designed by Kazan Helicopters.

17.05.2012The Russian privately-owned rotorcraft design house RUMAS Group has brought to HeliRussia 2012 two prototypes of its newest light coaxial helicopter design, Rumas 10, with a maximum take-off weight of 950 kg. 
Shuvalovo in St Petersburg
17.05.2012The project to set up the Petersburg Engines production centre for helicopter powerplants is under way in the settlement of Shuvalovo in St Petersburg. The completion date is set for May or June this year. The United Engine Corporation is erecting the new facility on an outlying industrial area belonging to its subsidiary Klimov plant.
17.05.2012Russian Helicopters’ Moscow Helicopter Plant is set to begin flight trials of the new Mil Mi-38 helicopter with Russian Klimov TV7-117V turboshafts in June this year.
new TV3-117VMA-SBM1V Series 4E turboshaft
17.05.2012The Ukrainian engine maker Motor Sich is offering its new TV3-117VMA-SBM1V Series 4E turboshaft (also known as TV3-117VMA-SBM4V) as a re-engining option for Mil Mi-8T helicopters. The earlier TV2-117 version installed on these rotorcraft is too underpowered for unrestricted operations in mountainous regions.

17.05.2012Russian Helicopters has posted strong results for 2011, reporting a 12.5% year-on-year increase in IFRS net profit to 7 billion rubles ($238 million at the current exchange rate) and a 27.8% growth in revenue to 103.9 billion rubles.
